Visa-Free Entry to Mainland China Extended

China has added six more nationalities to its visa-free travel program.

From March 14, 2024 through November 30, 2024, nationals of Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg and Switzerland will be able to enter Mainland China without a visa for tourism, business, family visits or transit for up to 15 days.

This is an expansion of the program that opened in December 2023 to nationals of France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Those seeking to enter to conduct other activities or stay for more than 15 days will still require a visa to enter Mainland China.

*Note - China visa applications for stays of more than 15 days filed in Washington, D.C. by nationals of the abovementioned countries must be accompanied by a written statement of explanation of the travel.
